2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data
When you register for VIYNU, we collect:
- Your email address
- A hashed password (we never store your password in plain text)
- Your chosen display name (optional)
- Your account creation date and last activity timestamp
2.2 Personality Assessment Data
When you complete the VIYNU questionnaire, we collect:
- Your answers to up to 60 personality questions
- Derived personality scores across Big Five, MBTI-style, and Enneagram dimensions
- Your personality archetype and profile sections generated from your answers
- Session progress and completion status
2.3 Conversation Data
When you use the VIYNU chat feature, we collect:
- The content of messages you send
- The content of AI responses you receive
- Timestamps of conversations
- Session identifiers
2.4 Memory Data
VIYNU uses a memory system to personalise your experience. This system stores:
- Key insights extracted from your conversations (e.g. goals, preferences, patterns you have mentioned)
- Partner personality data if you complete the relationship path
- This data is used exclusively to improve the relevance of future conversations
2.5 Usage and Technical Data
We automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Session duration and frequency
- Feature usage patterns (which sections you view, how far you progress)
- Error logs and crash reports
- IP address (used for security and fraud prevention, not for tracking)
2.6 Payment Data
If you subscribe to VIYNU Full Access:
- Payment is processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play
- We do not receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or any payment credentials
- We receive only a subscription status confirmation from the platform
3. Why We Collect Your Data
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR:
3.1 Contract Performance (Art. 6(1)(b))
We need certain data to provide the service you signed up for:
- Account data to authenticate you
- Assessment data to generate your personality profile
- Conversation data to operate the AI companion feature
3.2 Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f))
We process some data to operate and improve our service:
- Usage data to understand how the app is used and where to improve it
- Error logs to fix bugs and maintain service stability

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share limited data with the following service providers, strictly to operate VIYNU:
5.1 OpenRouter (AI Processing)
- Purpose: Routes your messages to AI language models to generate responses
- Data shared: Conversation content and personality context

5.2 Mem0 (Memory Layer)
- Purpose: Stores and retrieves personalised memory data to improve conversation continuity
- Data shared: Extracted conversation insights and personality metadata

5.3 Hostinger (Infrastructure)
- Purpose: Hosts our API servers and website
- Data shared: All data transits through their servers
- Server location: India (API), Singapore (backups)

5.4 Apple / Google (Payment + Distribution)
- Purpose: App distribution and subscription billing
- Data shared: Only subscription status confirmation
- Subject to their own privacy policies
We do not share your data with:

6. Data Storage and Security
6.1 Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on secure servers. Our primary API server is located in India. Backups are maintained in Singapore. We use Hostinger infrastructure for hosting.
6.2 How We Protect Your Data
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (never stored in plain text)
- Database access is restricted to authorised systems only
- We implement rate limiting and security monitoring to prevent unauthorised access
- Regular security reviews are conducted on our infrastructure
6.3 Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account
- Conversation data: Retained until you delete your account
- Memory data: Retained until you delete your account or clear your memory in Settings
- Usage / technical data: Retained for up to 12 months for security and analytics purposes
- After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:
7.1 Right of Access (Art. 15)
You have the right to request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. Contact us at support@viynu.com to make a data access request.
7.2 Right to Rectification (Art. 16)
You have the right to correct inaccurate personal data we hold about you.
7.3 Right to Erasure (Art. 17)
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. You can:
- Delete your account directly within the app (Settings → Delete Account)
- This permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days

7.4 Right to Restriction (Art. 18)
You have the right to request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
7.5 Right to Data Portability (Art. 20)
You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Contact us at support@viynu.com to request a data export.
7.6 Right to Object (Art. 21)
You have the right to object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.
7.7 Right to Withdraw Consent (Art. 7)
Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
7.8 Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are in Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at https://www.edoeb.admin.ch.

8. Children’s Privacy
VIYNU is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@viynu.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including India and Singapore. Where we transfer data outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection law.
10. Cookies and Tracking
The VIYNU mobile app does not use cookies. Our website (viynu.com) uses only essential technical cookies necessary for the site to function. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies on our website.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:
- We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page
- For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email
- Your continued use of VIYNU after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
